biography & storylines. [Thu; Feb 14, 2008 @ 1:56am]

Captain Sol was probably one of the more mysterious characters aboard the Phoenix. How would you feel if you woke up one day and didn't remember who you were? Or even worse, not know what happened to everything you knew and loved? They say that our memories are what ties us to the past, but the good captain wasn't even afforded the luxury when he was transported across the universe, millions of light years from home. But the amnesia never stopped him from tapping into what he was at heart, a leader.

Finding his way back to Earth wasn't gonna be easy and he knew that. For one, he couldn't have stayed on the dusty merchant planet of Paheli forever. With a little bit of luck [or a lot, in this case] and a smidgen of exploration, Sol discovered the remains of a small starship missing its reactor core. It was his way out, but he most certainly didn't have the means to get it, monetarily anyway. But thank God gambling was a universal experience.

Quickly learning their game, Sol sat down to a table full of Gorax's, Klebahn's, and Fendril's for something reminscent of a card game. A fresh reactor core -- a highly valuable part on Paheli -- was up for grabs and Sol wasn't about to leave without it.

"Bold move." One of the players noted as Sol expertly placed down a hand, ``I live on the edge.`` Sol replied in a quirky, winsome manner. Another player's numbers scored higher when his hand was let down, much to Sol's dismay. "Not -so- bold." ``I've given some thought to movin' -off- the edge. Maybe a place in the middle.`` The tides changed pretty quickly when Sol began winning, collecting prize trinkets before eventually grabbing the reactor core. But things didn't go as smoothly as he would've hoped for.

"Hey! He cheated!" The Klebahn proclaimed as he witnessed a card slip from Sol's sleeve. ``Well, love to stay and chat but I have a date with a little lady called 'Earth.'`` "EARTH?!" A voice shot out from behind the bar, a mess of honey blonde surfaced, "Take me with you!" The girl yelped. ``Can you fix a ship?`` "Can I!" ``Let's go!`` With loot and reactor core in hand, they bolted towards the ruins of the ship after dodging the mob that was hot on their heels. Hannah, the girl, did as she was asked, and they were off.

Five years later they still hadn't found Earth, but picked up others in search of it along the way. Each with their own story, each with their own purpose, but united with a single cause. But that hadn't stopped them from finding a means to survive, stumbling on adventure upon adventure along the way. But what kept Captain Sol going? The hope that one day he'd remember who he is. The hope that one day he'll find the woman who placed the wedding band on his finger ..
